In his research, Prof. Dr Phd Conradus Chosal Gho, the one who patented the HST technique, states that it does not take a whole follicle to regenerate hair growth, but only a portion of it is needed to regenerate a new hair.

Differences between HST and FUE and FUT

In the HST technique, the portion of capillary tissue that is harvested from the skin using a 0.5 or 0.6 mm punch contains a certain number of hair stem cells capable of creating a new follicular unit.

In contrast, in the usual self-transplantation techniques such as FUE (Follicolar Unit Extraction) or FUT (Strip Surgery), the follicular units are totally extracted, removing the possibility of new regrowth in the donor area, which can happen through the HST technique instead (the chances go beyond 80%).

Thanks to such an innovative technique, it will be possible to shorten hair almost completely in the donor area, maintaining homogeneity on the whole head and without any difference in volume, as the amount of hair will appear multiplied thanks to the birth of new follicles generated from the same follicular tissue taken previously.

After surgery, the donor zone appears regenerated erazie to the regrowth of the partially harvested follicular unit. This allows those who have been burn victims or simply those with a poor donor area to undergo hair transplantation with much higher expectations than the pure FUE technique.

The grafts, therefore, are placed perfectly inside the canals, and the average regrowth rate settles around 95%.

The postoperative convalescence will be very short and light and the grafts will allow for greater hair density due to the fact that being smaller they can be placed close to each other, creating precisely a denser coverage due to the greater density achievable.

Given the evolution of instrumentation in the operating room and patient comfort as an overall goal, anesthesia, but also the post surgery, will be virtually painless.

This is another major difference between the new HST technique and common autograft techniques that involve a slightly longer recovery period and the use of bandages and wraps to protect the nape of the neck.
